Handmade Cards Featuring Park Lane Paper

Do you love making handmade cards? There is nothing as special as giving someone a handmade card and them realizing you made it just for them. It’s a gift in itself! I personalized a card for a good friend, so much so that it had the wedding shower theme and her name printed on it. She squealed in delight! It made my day.

Good Deal Alert

I am always on the lookout for a good deal on cardstock packs. Cute, coordinating cardstock will take all the work out of making perfect handmade cards or scrapbook pages. The other day I found the best deal at Joann.com. I was browsing to see if their Park Lane Big Deal paper stacks were on sale. These 12″x12″ paper packs have 48 pages and are regularly $19.99 but you can often find them on sale as low as $7.99. I was so excited when I realized I could get the sale price and use a 20% off my total purchase when buying on their app and picking it up in the store. Wow, what a steal. That made my paper stacks $6.39 or $0.13 a sheet! Some of the papers even have foil on them.

Have you ever been shopping and bought so many that the cashier wanted to know what you are going to do with them all? Well, that was me. I told her I was making some handmade cards. So, what would you do with this many packs of 12″ x 12″ cardstock? Leave a comment below…I need more ideas!

Getting Started

I have been itching to make some handmade cards. I flipped through each paper pack and looked at all the goodness. They have patterns, and a few sheets of tags and sayings. These will be perfect to make cards or scrapbook pages with.

A few of the stacks had a hole drilled in the top to hang at the store. At first I was frustrated that they had a hole in them. Then I noticed they are a bit longer on that side to compensate for the hole, but the pattern goes all the way to the top of the page rather than have a white tear strip with a logo on it, so more paper to work with. I will take it!

After going through all the paper packs, I found a few sheets I wanted to play with. I spent some time getting ideas for some cards. I was intrigued by a video by Jess Crafts who talked about taking 12″ x 12″ paper and using it in a way that you have no scraps. Because, really, who likes all the scraps left behind? I have a box full of scraps, because someday I may use it…. Maybe you can relate? Here is the video if you want to watch it too.

It didn’t take me long before I had a few cards made.
